A historical heritage in the heart of the village

The hamlet of Beaumarchais

The hamlet of Beaumarchais, located approximately 1 km north of the village of Les Chapelles-Bourbon, is a site of historical significance. Mentioned as a fief as early as the 16th century, it has weathered the ages, passing through numerous hands during the Ancien Régime. A manor house, likely built in the 17th century, and a farm were erected there, bearing witness to its rich past. In the 19th century, Jean-Denis Lanjuinais, a famous jurist, owned the property, followed by his son-in-law, Baron Auguste de Berthois.

Today, the hamlet symbolizes the historical heritage of the region and continues to fascinate with its history and transformations.
